Tarry and Be Hanged

Only one witness could provide Dr. Henry Langton, family physician and horticultural addict, with an alibi for the time of his wife's murder—and the alibi was made of cast iron. However, a year after the death of the good doctor's wife another body is dug up in a clump of his favorite shrubbery, and Antony Maitland finds himself in the middle of an unusually difficult defense. Langton's story is so damning to his chances that Maitland quixotically feels he must believe it, and for lack of evidence he manages to obtain Langton's acquittal.
