Tamarei, Book Six: Twilight of the Gods

Shiri has finally arrived back on Taiu, ready to fulfil her destiny and become Queen. It seems, however, that fate, and her hell-god grandfather, Abileck, have decided that it's not yet time for Shiri to claim the throne. When Abileck possesses her husband's body, Shiri is forced to flee the city of Men-nefer, along with most of her followers. Her one hope is that she can find a way to restore her husband to his body, and finally defeat Abileck. They leave behind a country in turmoil, on the verge of civil war, and it seems there is little that Shiri can do to save her people. Their one hope is to find Caranthus, the eccentric god, who lives in the wilds of the north. This time, though, Shiri fears that even he won't be able to help her. It seems that time is running out, not just for Shiri and Craig, but for the gods themselves.
