Allan flees Elderwood City because he killed the rich man who murdered his sister. He hides in the ruins of a castle of one of the Great Mages of yore. Allan learns that the magic never went away, and that he has the gift of using magic. But what should he do with his new-found skill? Allan decides that he will fight the injustices that threw him and his sister onto the streets, and ultimately led to her death. He will disguise himself as The Defender, and fight for those who cannot fight for themselves. This volume contains the first five Defender stories. In them you’ll see the Defender take on Lords and criminals. The Defender uses both magic and his wits to bring out the best in those around him, and to combat the outrages committed by black-hearted men.
