Hoping to subdue even Gwaum, Gault readies his plans to subdue Island World.

Using the Crystal Eye, Gault could reach into the minds of the kings of Island World and control them. Employing Forbidden Magic the wizard Gault constructs a crystal network to bring all of Island World under his control.

Tarque and Miralba form a fateful partnership and discover his lair, deep in a cavern beneath the Hidden City. Together they enlist the aid of the Grand Wizard to counter Gault's plot.

The power of two Wizards of the Golden Star is not sufficient to stop Gault, who has had centuries to add to his magic power. An ally arises to aid them in their task. But even the addition of a third Wizard of the Golden Star may not be enough.
