Meet Tootie! She's a lively thirteen-year-old with loads of energy, imagination, and enthusiasm. Often she's headstrong and takes matters into her own hands. The story of Tootie and her family is set in the 1920s.

Tootie does it again! She assures her teacher that of course she'll have a perfect costume to play her part as a flying angel in the class Christmas play. But Tootie's family is too poor to provide such a costume.

Soon Tootie forgets her problem when gypsies come to town and prejudice runs high. The gypsies rescue Buddy, Tootie's brother who has Down syndrome, and Tootie becomes their friend.

What about Tootie's costume for the play? She is about to confess that she doesn't have one when the gypsies offer to help her. On the night of the play there is more than one surprise at Logan School!
