A secret war had gone unnoticed, until five-year-old David Matthews was bit by Dmitri Sardovsky, a vampire. Rescued by Dominique Marie Dubois, David was thrown into a world where physical and spiritual realms collide on a daily basis. Thirty years have passed, with David becoming a world-renowned scientist in the field of hematology. He survives in this clash of realms as a supernatural vampire hunter-a Terru. His mission in the war: to bring soul-filled vampires back to humanity by finding a medical cure for their precarious natures. He is aided by vampire priest Arthur Devane, as well as by Dominique and a mysterious scholar named Archon Sandoval. Sardovsky is warned of the Terru threat and dispatches a Dark Terru to kill David and terrorize those David loves. Will David survive, or will his life end precariously as it began... as an unknown soldier?
