About This Book

After a massive para-dime Shift in our world, from which the fantastic races of legend arise anew parallel to magic, our reality has come back from a social apocalypse. With the final weekend before the presidential election in the United States, a series of events begin to unfurl which will have global consequences for years to come.

A Half-orc, Elijah Branch, wakes up in a crime scene of an operating room that Friday afternoon. Worse, the piece of ordinance wired into the back of his skull forces him to act against his wishes. His new handlers inform him he just has to make his way to the Little Havana, a riverboat moored along the river in the Cincinnati proper.

Following him are Monte Williams and Skip Cook, FBI agents out of the Cincinnati office. Agent Williams would love nothing more than putting Branch through the wringer and start his retirement. Branch is connected to many in the criminal underworld, especially the Italian Mafia out of St. Louis.

What secrets Elijah holds are not the only ones crucial to the election. A group of necromancers in Cook County, Illinois working for a Community Action Group are busy raising the dead from recent graves--the Illinois State Constitution doesn't prevent animated dead from voting. And in Washington D.C., a group of Mao-loving eco-terrorists take the National Archives by force with every intention to change the Constitution of the United States into a living, breathing, talking document with a powerful ritual.

Magic, Dragons running for President of the United States, irritable radio talk show hosts, and a patriarch of Chicago now a lord of the undead with his dark-elven progeny wait to be discovered in a world that has at least one more degree of separation than our own.
