Shake Down Dead

Social worker, Whitney Wentworth, is missing. No one seems concerned except Jennifer Penny, coffee roaster. One of the residents at the group home where Whitney works was caught smashing in her windshield with a bat. Did he hit Whitney too? And maybe dispose of her body? When Jennifer's boyfriend, police detective Jerry Decker, discovers Whitney's cell phone with a curiously coded list of names, the two become embroiled in their own investigation of possible blackmail. It appears that the number of suspects involved in Whitney's disappearance has just increased dramatically--and one of them is a candidate for governor.
