What if everything you thought you knew was a lie?

A man, once a killer, now strides alongside a woman of rare power. With all odds against them, the two thwarted an invasion by a being known as the Swarm, a creature able to manipulate entire populations, linking them with a single psyche.
But the Swarm was just the first indication of the wrongness permeating San Francisco. Detective Ryder and the man known only as Darius must slog through the lies and deceptions covering an entire community hidden within the city. These people possess access to knowledge and power, ancient and mysterious, which could see everything we think we know of as reality turned on its head.
A new killer has also emerged. Victims fall to ash after his deathly touch, leaving Ryder reeling at the potential explanations. Is it the same creature she has witnessed lurking in the shadows, one cloaked in the guise of a reaper, or something else?
In order to prevail, Ryder must somehow master the destructive force rushing through her, a power that only one other being has ever known.
