Elegant Windsor Resort on Orcas Island in the Pacific Northwest is up for sale with an interested buyer on the spot. But to Seattle lawyer Annie MacPherson, who holds power of attorney for the Windsor's seriously ill owner, the deal seems suspiciously hasty. She feels pressured by the hotel's manager, and she dislikes both the prospective buyer, a coldly reserved Easterner, and his glamorous blonde companion, Marguerite Boulanger.
