About This Book
In a far distant land, where legends roam, three peoplekinds face their troubles together.
Few understand this better than Pergerine, a dragon-like korvi. His hearing is damaged from a century spent mining, and he can't hear a simple conversation for himself; he relies on the help of ferrin assistants, the keen-eared weasel folk Peregrine raises like his own children. But with his dragon lifespan, Peregrine has buried four of his companions — and he will outlive dear Tillian as well. Convinced that he is robbing Tillian of her brief life, Peregrine resolves to change his ways. If he ceases to be a deaf, stubborn miner, maybe his earferrin can be free.
On the same day Peregrine takes wing for a messenger job, Rose faces an epidemic. She is an insect-like aemet, young and recently hurried into her mage position — and dozens of her neighbours are showing symptoms of gripthia. Without enough healing magic, they will die. Unable to save her people alone, Rose sends out a plea for help. A plea that reaches compassionate Tillian's ears.
For the greater good, Peregrine leaves to fly for supplies, while Tillian stays to nurse the ill. While gripthia spreads across the land, Peregrine wonders whether he can live for himself, whether Tillian wants to live without him, and whether Rose and her villagers will live at all.
Remedy is a story of positive themes, personal growth, and the bonds of family. It is intended for open-minded adults. This novel is a stand-alone work, only loosely connected to later Stories of Aligare.
