Moonlighting as a dispatcher for Midnight Taxi, Frank Cole hopes to supplement slow days as a background checker. A young con man was picked up by one of Midnight's drivers in front of a sleazy hotel right before a big drug bust. Now, a smooth-talking P.I., a couple of bounty hunters and the kid's dewy-eyed girlfriend all want to know where he is. Frank, a successful software developer before his own bubble burst, knows the kid is in dangerously deep with something. And since everyone's leaning on Frank for hard and fast answers, he decides to start digging for some…to save his own skin.
