Mariska Masekova and Dave Lewis are back!! Following their adventures in DARK TIMES, they now find themselves investigating a series of hit-and-runs that cops think are a series of unfortunate accidents, but which Dave and Mariska think are murders. Their attention is brought to the hit-and-runs by Sophie Nelson, a scruffy, down-at-hell woman, who once starred in porn photos and videos, who is regarded by her neighbours as a very bad mother, who didn't seem to care when her daughter was killed, but who is now reaching out for answers. Dave and Mariska bitch their way through the book, with her moving out of their joint home, to live in an apartment owned by the charming upper-class Edward Darke, someone Dave hates with a vengeance.
