WHAT PRICE A KINGDOM?

That is the question that plagues Gaultry Bias. Blessed by the twin goddesses, she is endowed with the magic of the Common Brood, witches who have tried for fifty years to win for Tielmark ' freedom from the Bissanty Empire and the full sovereignty of a kingdom. But time grows short to do the deed, and between the court intrigues of Tielmark and the machinations of others who seek a more brutal route to power, the hope of the land that would be a kingdom is growing faint. The prince has even spoken of sacrificing his own life, if only it will bond the land to a new king.

Gaultry is brave, and the spirit of the land flows deep within her. She knows that violence will only divide Tielmark, never unite it. But can even one so strong as she defeat the evil forces that would thwart Tielmark's destiny?
