A series of shots cut through the night, and moments later, Gordon Crane's friend is lying on the ground. Lucas Jones clings to life, and the only thing that matters to Gordon is finding whoever tried to take his life.

The mystery of Jones' shooting is tied to a case he was looking into, the murder of a man named Zack Riggs nearly twenty years prior. The more Gordon investigates, the more he becomes convinced that solving the crime from the past will shed light on why someone tried to kill his friend.

Complicating his investigation are lies, the passage of time and a lack of results in the original police investigation that means he needs to rely on his instincts and assistance from unlikely sources to solve the mystery. It's not long, however, before he realizes that there's a secret from his own past that might either prove to be a distraction, or his most trusted assistant in solving the murder of Zack Riggs.
