One of rock music's most powerful agents and promoters, Glen Boyd, comes to a tragic end when he is found dead in a hotel room, a woman's silk scarf tight around his neck. The victim was a user and abuser, a man who made dreams happen, then shattered them just as easily. Glen Boyd ruined many people, including -- quite nearly -- Toronto homicide detective Barry Gilbert's wife, Regina.

Glen and Regina had been lovers more than twenty years earlier, and the relationship ended badly. But when evidence in the victim's apartment points to Regina's renewed clandestine involvement with Boyd, a reeling Gilbert is torn between his two sacred duties -- as a cop and a devoted husband. Investigating other suspects including Boyd's famous folksinger ex-wife, as well as the drug kingpin who kept Boyd supplied with cocaine, Barry digs into Glen Boyd's poisonous world -- praying he won't find the one thing he fears most.
