Of Fine Breeding Stock...

Fleeing the fall of Constantinople, Rhomaioi settlers forged a dangerous trek across the sea to a land others would later call America. They found a world unlike anything they'd encountered, where the laws of nature seemed subtly awry, preternatural beasts lay just beyond the known senses and things seemed...wrong.

Centuries passed.

The Rhomaioi were joined by the British and their scions later rebelled to form the United States. The displaced and proud Romans would take their place in the Union as the State of New Byzantium, squeezed between Virginia and North Carolina. Even given the sometimes haunting, bizarre landscape and geography of the region, New Byzantium became just another Southern State...at least, to those who did not live amongst the darkened vales or dwelt within the cyclopean shadow of Black Mountain.

But there is a horrible secret in the very fiber of New Byzantium, one which harkens back centuries to the very foundings of the settlement. One man is about to uncover this secret...and in so doing be forced to make a terrible choice...
