Nightmare in Scotland

Headed for Glasgow to attend her college roommate's Wicca wedding, Kate Doyle's plans are cut short when she gets an urgent call from Argentina's embassy in London. A series of intrigues has been set in motion, involving her old nemesis Schildkraut, the illicit fence who has been selling off Holocaust jewelry, and her former lover, Irish Detective Inspector Kevin Mahoney. How will Kate, in the role of private investigator, find out who murdered a diplomatic courier carrying valuables on his way to Schildkraut's shop? She herself becomes a victim of the perpetrators, and narrowly escapes their clutches. Meanwhile, she has become fascinated with the subject of witchcraft in present-day Scotland and its origins going back into the mists of time. Her appetite for knowledge is fed by a Catholic priest who becomes enamored of her, in spite of her rejections. He informs her of the injustices of the Inquisition and how the official Church handbook was used to condemn good women for heresy and burn them at the stake. Once more Kate is kidnapped and confined, to wake up in the most hideous situation imaginable. Can she find the energy to draw on her courage and bravery to escape death and bring the evildoers to justice?
