About This Book
While a member of the Drug Enforcement Task Force with the Charleston, WV Police Department, Nick Strong works for two years to set up a drug deal that he hopes will bring the leader of a vicious drug cartel to justice. When the drug deal is finally arranged, Nick walks—with his partners Joe Gaines and Martin Cramer—into a deadly trap when the drug lord double-crosses them. In an ambush, Joe Gaines and Cramer are killed. Nick barely escapes with severe wounds.
For months after the incident, he slowly recovers and becomes an alcoholic after resigning from the police department. Fighting hard to get his life back, he starts a detective agency and hires a beautiful law school graduate to help him. Her name is Kelly Lance. With her support and help, he slowly recovers from the deaths of his friends and his addiction to whiskey.
Just when business is good and their future looks better, tragedy strikes again. Someone calls him and informs him that there is to be a murder in a nearby hotel where a meeting of several city officials and citizens is taking place. His sister is killed along with four other city officials before he can do anything to prevent it. Devastated again, he is tempted to drink. Kelly fights hard to remind him that drinking isn't good for his diabetes or his general health.
Two months later, the informer calls them again. This time, the caller is more specific. There is to be a multiple murder in a restaurant called Snow's Bar and Restaurant. Rushing to the scene early in the morning, he finds Kelly already there. Two men are found dead in the dining room with their throats cut. Snow, the owner and two employees are found in the freezer room with their throats cut also.
Nick and Kelly realize that they are up against a powerful gang that will stop at nothing to keep what they have taken with bullets and an evil agenda.
