Night of the Ice Storm

January is a cruel month in upstate New York, and no January was worse than that of 1971 when a devastating ice storm hit the small town of Bessemer. But crueler still was what happened to a young priest, Father John Barrow. On the night of the ice storm, someone clubbed him to death with such ferocity that the unsolved murder haunted the dreams of Bessemer's citizens for years.

Twenty years later, the Bessemer Gazette is throwing a huge party for the newspaper's ninetieth birthday. Festivities include a reunion of former employees, some of whom haven't stepped foot in Bessemer since a long-ago icy winter.
