Detective Inspector Neil Paget faces one of most frustrating cases of his career when a body with no leads is discovered.

The discovery of the body of local photographer Billy Travis, having fallen from a bridge on to the railway tracks below, leaves Detective Inspector Neil Paget baffled. While the death plunge was no accident, the corpse found bound and gagged with the letter A is carved into his forehead, Travis led a quiet, unremarkable life. With no evidence or leads to follow, the investigation stonewalls. But when a second body shows up in a similar state, Paget must discover what connects the two victims if he is to have any chance of cracking the case.
