About This Book

Lena's date, Smithy left her high and dry. He'd turned up all right, turned up dead as John Ewing discovers later.      Lena introduces him to the German House, a club for Americans with German links. She has a German mother and friends there, but exactly what was her relationship with the dead man? She doesn't behave as though she's just lost a sweetheart.     For that reason, he neglects to mention Smithy's parents have employed him to find the killer.     When another client is murdered for buying letters stolen from the German House, John becomes suspicious of Lena and her Nazi friends. Luckily, he has found someone else willing to help.    John is a political innocent, yet he senses a cold undercurrent running beneath the sunny smiles displayed in public. What can this mean, not just for his client but for the city of Angels?      He uncovers circumstantial evidence that convinces him of the killer, but can he come up with material evidence to guarantee a conviction? He is unaware that the closer he draws to his quarry, the hunter may become hunted.
