In 1928, to the despair of his father, Merlin Richards abandons the family architectural practice in Wales and goes off to America in search of Frank Lloyd Wright. The great man proves elusive and Merlin suffers all sorts of setbacks before he tracks him down in the Arizona desert where Wright is fitfully involved in the construction of the Biltmore Hotel.When he meets the beautiful young designer, Rosa Lustig, Merlin believes that his run of bad luck has at last ended but he's soon disillusioned.
