There is nothing Cal does not know, including the ability to anticipate future events, except who he is and why strangers want him dead.

A teenager who wakes one day in the middle of an Ohio cornfield, Cal has no memory of his identify, his life, or the events preceding his awakening. He soon realizes, however, that he has innate unique abilities that separate him from the rest of humanity. Along with a flawless eidetic memory and an all-encompassing awareness of even the most minute details, he can perceive patterns so complex it provides him the superhuman ability to predict events before they happen. As time passes, more and more amazing abilities reveal themselves to him. The one thing that does not come is knowledge of his past, and how he came by his abilities. He soon realizes this is something he must discover for himself.

Compelled in two disparaging directions—the need to use these abilities to intervene in the lives around him for the better, and the overwhelming certainty that to stay alive and free of those hunting him he must remain hidden—he strives desperately to find balance and understanding within the context of escalating chaos. Flailing to master his emergent gifts fast enough to stay ahead of those who seek him, Cal knows his only sure path to the future lies in his discovery of the past.

Filled with the struggle against a clandestine agency with seemingly infinite reach and resources, the growing interest of third parties, an enigmatic counterpart that is Cal's equal in all but his obstacles, and unlikely allies obtained seemingly by chance, Minutiae follows Cal and his self-appointed protectors through an intricate web of conspiracy, action, suffering, tragedy, hope, and discovery that, if survived, will yield answers not only to the question of who Cal is and the destiny which is his ultimate purpose, but also secrets about the universal significance to be found in the minutiae that envelopes us all on a journey through suffering to the far side of salvation.
