How do you go from lonesome loser to leader of the fight against zombies? The hard way of course! Brad just wanted to be left alone to his writing. He had very little contact with the outside world, until there wasn't much of an outside world left.
A fast food manager, a substitute teacher, two waitresses, a customer service rep, two hardware store guys, three teenagers, a florist, a writer, and one mean ass Amy are the best hope for killing the zombies and saving mankind.
