Excerpt from book:
There was a minute change in the hum of wheels as the train crossed the bridge spanning the river. The silver ripples of moon-glow on the water appeared as if a giant had spilt a mélange of shiny coins, and they were still warbling over the surface. Other than the ethereal reflection, it was dark again. Doc dared glance over his shoulder. The outline of the wraith could once again be seen.
Doc moved to the seat next to the window and huddled in the corner, wondering where this would all end. At the rate this thing was moving, they would soon be in Beaumont. Could that be their destination? He certainly hoped so.
The next time light from an outside source flooded the interior, Doc thought he felt something brush his left arm. As the light disappeared to the rear and the coach was in all but darkness again, he realized the apparition had move to the front of the coach and was now sitting alongside him!
