When Jill Tanner agrees to investigate the closed murder case of Wendy Holbrook, a young ASU student, little did she know the swirling chaos it would unfold-and that it may be her last case. Going on a mother's hunch-that her daughter's killer is still at large-Jill learns Wendy tried to get an injunction against someone...the Justice of the Peace didn't grant it, was voted out of office and moved to New Mexico-where he doesn't want to be found. Suspects include a career criminal, a Tucson Senator implicated by him, and two coyotes stopped by Border Patrol while Wendy was on an archeological field trip. The coyotes had a cargo of young female immigrants. With the JP's records in disarray and the DHS which oversees the Border Patrol silent on what Wendy might have witnessed, it's up to Jill to piece together the evidence. While doing so, she becomes the target of Wendy's killer.
