Jailbreak

This short story was taken from an energetic book called THE HUNGRY: ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE, which also starred Sheriff Penny Miller. The novel was first released as an ebook October 1, 2011, with an introduction by best-selling zombie author Joe McKinney ("Dead City," "Flesh Eaters"). The paperback version was released soon after. The book took off and spawned a hit series. The sequels THE HUNGRY 2: THE WRATH OF GOD, THE HUNGRY 3: AT THE END OF THE WORLD, THE HUNGRY 4: RISE OF THE TRIAD, THE HUNGRY 5: ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE and THE HUNGRY 6: THE RULE OF THREE are also available.

This 5,000 word opening section has already appeared in "Best New Zombie Tales," the charity anthology "Dead Set," and is in co-author Harry Shannon's Stoker-nominated collection "A Host of Shadows."
