When Cat Lamond dreams of yet another murder far away she knows she has to do something. She has to go back to where she was born to find the killer. Going back to the Highlands of Scotland, she finds more than she thought she'd find. She finds the killer and magic older than time itself. She also finds her family's secret. They are Guardians of this same magic. She has to use her magic to defeat a witch and stop her evil plan but Cat also find a mortal man she finds she loves more than the magic she carries inside her.
