Charlie Kyle used to be a private eye before he lost his P.I. license and landed on Skid Row. His ex-partner, Jerry Gordon, went on to become America's Most Famous Private Eye and host of a popular reality TV show. When Jerry is killed by a remote-controlled airplane, Charlie gets hired to investigate. He soon discovers that his former partner was in the blackmail business. There's no shortage of people who wanted to see him dead. The list includes his secretary, a TV producer, a televangelist, and the Chief of Police. Charlie is a recovering wino; he has problems of his own. And this is one case that hits a little too close to home.
