As Corred and Remiel make a desperate attempt to rescue Creedus and the Sword before they are swallowed by the Black Mountain, Mornoc's armies are unleashed in the eastern Lowlands. A coordinated assault, Mornoc will not settle for anything less than complete control this time. Anyone who resists will be destroyed. But there is resistance. An alliance is forged between Renken and Wellman, and the faithful of the Northern Villages unite for the defense. Even so, the city of Shole appears to be their only safe haven.
