     Werewolf Willow doesn't want to lead a pack. She doesn't even want to be an alpha, and she has a grudge against fate for taking that choice from her. After patiently training in the human realm, she believes she's finally ready to be a free lone wolf.
     Adrian is bowing under the pressure of the werewolves. He's spent his life searching for answers about vampire origins and how he, a half-vampire, fits into that story. That research, and the interest the werewolves are taking in it, is the only thing that's kept him alive.
     Although Adrian only barely escaped her jaws when they first met, Willow has trained to overcome that particular instinct. So despite his reluctance, she's keen to accept her final test: protect him from other werewolves so he can complete his research. But as different urges take its place, he never fails to remind her of their opposing natures.
