Inn The Laughing Dragon was his first ever story. It first appeared in Dutch magazine Ator Mondis 3 in 1991 as De Laatste Draak (The Last Dragon). The story is the basis for the dark fantasy novel The Failing God, first part of a fantasy cycle taking place on and around the fictional island of Cranborn.
