Shamanic counselor Sabbie Dare doesn't believe her wounded and broken client is capable of murder. Still, Cliff Houghton becomes the prime suspect in a child abduction case when Detective Sergeant Reynard Buckley catches him lurking near the scene of the crime in the English countryside.

Continuing the therapy they'd begun together, Sabbie travels deep into Cliff's subconscious. Recovering forgotten childhood memories, Sabbie learns about Cliff's harrowing encounter with the Wetland Murderer, a serial killer who stalked the rain-drenched moors twenty years ago. When another child goes missing and Cliff is arrested, Sabbie must piece together fragments of buried evidence to prove Cliff's innocence and find the real killer.
