About This Book

In a universe in which time and space and reality are illusions, Arek Bastryan and Hanane Aghmati, minor magicians, are tasked by the Power to aid in the rebellion against the Turkish rulers of Europe. The rebellion, led by the warrior princess Talette Tellefsdatter, is attempting to overthrow four hundred years of harsh and stultifying Turkish rule that has returned Europe to a pre-industrial age. Hanane and Bastryan sail for the north country, beset by pirates, storms and heavily gunned Turkish row galleys, arriving in Sweden in time for the climactic battle of Kobnhavn, in which the warrior princess is mortally wounded. Before the awestruck eyes of the defeated army, Hanane enters the burning Viking long ship and in the midst of the fierce flames of the funeral pyre is transformed into the warrior princess. Hanane, now Talette Tellefsdatter, leads a Europe wide uprising that drives the Turks out of Europe. Their task completed, the Power grants the wish of Bastryan and Hanane to be relieved of their minor magical power and be allowed to live their lives as normal human beings, married and in love, with a home and children. Deep in the granite rock of a snow covered mountain, Bastryan and Hanane sleep, waiting to be wakened to their promised new life, in a world in which illusion is the only illusion.
