About This Book

Hatchouli is a young dragon who was orphaned and left on the night of a great storm on the island of Kwaktee. He has been raised by elderly Bashtalor, who once he was sure that Hatchouli could fend for himself, moved his lair up into the mountains. Hatchouli's young friend Tan Shi works very hard to keep his spirits up when he is doubtful that he really is a dragon. She spends as much time as she can, away from duties to her parents, with him. After having a series of disturbing dreams about huge silver dragons, Hatchouli decides he should confront Bashtalor and try to find out where he could possibly have come from and who his parents might have been. This leads to him nearly losing Bashtalor and discovering that not only does he love the old dragon, but that his feelings are reciprocated. He learns who he is, where he comes, and what his future will be. He discovers the truth about his dreams and with the help of Tan Shi and her mother, Mama-san, the life on the mainland is changed forever.
