Gunzo

The Peter Surf series is like nothing else. Zone 14 outside Detroit is known as Gunzo. It has passed Chicago as the deadliest city in the US, with gang wars that compete with Iraq. There, the NBA's hottest new baller has become lost and marked for death. A specialist in unusual/high-risk cases, playboy private eye Peter Surf is hired to get him out of Gunzo alive. The case expands from urban gangs to include domestic terrorism and Russian operatives. Surf flies in via private jet with an arsenal for urban warfare.
