The elusive Silver Dollar Gang is robbing homes in Diamond Springs, North Carolina, keeping Sheriff Sharyn Howard and her deputies busy. Adding to the tension, an arrest in nearby Rock Springs leads Sharyn to investigate a death on the campus of an elite school.

Piper College has a history of murder. Over the years, a number of female students have been stabbed to death. Only now, a suspect is in custody. Sam Two Rivers was spotted standing over the body of the most recent victim. He also happens to be dating Sharyn's aunt, who is convinced of Sam's innocence. As the robberies and the college murders past and present become linked in a bizarre twist, Sharyn must unmask a brilliant and deranged killer before another innocent life is taken….
