When Sarah, a retired school social worker, signed up for her first wilderness horseback ride deep within the Minnesota woods, she didn't expect a surprise and mysterious encounter that would challenge everything she knew. Sarah had spent her career fostering change for at-risk youth in the public school system. As she worked to unravel a complex ring of abuse before retirement, Sarah sought refuge in the rural life she began building on her farm-with her horses and family. Sarah's first gift of retirement came when one of her own students mentored her in becoming a better equestrian and partner to her Arabian horse. As student became teacher, and new bonds were formed, Sarah realized the fruits of her life's work were extending beyond the school's walls.
