When Scotland Yard Commander George Gideon first read the report of Rosamund Lee's murder, he was inclined to agree with the investigating constable that it was an isolated incident, a passion murder, and not the beginning of a spree. But as the investigation unfolded, it became clear that Miss Lee's killer was no novice; he had had practice. And when word came in that a man had been seen riding a clunky, old bicycle in the small hours of that night, Gideon developed a chilling suspicion: Rosamund Lee's murderer might very well be the same man who murdered the Entwhistle woman three years earlier. If that were the case, then Mr. Entwhistle was unjustly serving a life sentence, his children placed in a foster home-while a homicidal ladies' man was loving Londoners to death.
