Halloween is coming to the Renaissance Faire. And Jessie Morton, doing research on Renaissance crafts, has a lot on her plate. She has a crabby boss at her glassblowing apprenticeship -- and her boyfriend, Chase Manhattan, has found her in a seemingly compromising position with the boss's creepy nephew. Then death comes to the Grim Reaper -- or, rather, to the man playing him...

Death shall find thee. This message, found on the Grim Reaper's robe, starts appearing on village walls. Is this a gory decoration, or is someone sending a message? Chase is busy, so Jessie takes it on herself to find the answers. But in a place where everything from the fog to the pirates' tattoos is fake, nothing is as it seems. It's enough to make a maiden wish for simpler times...
