Rowan Foster is happy being the people-pleasing, overachieving go-to girl â€" sort of. As her high school graduation looms, everything in her life is relatively normal â€" except for those chilling recurring dreams that have cropped up of her death by a man who looks shockingly like her deceased father. Chalking the dreams up to subconscious nonsense, Rowan forges ahead only to be thrown off track when she finds herself instantly and overwhelmingly attracted to the new guy in town. Fascination quickly dwindles to irritation when she learns Orion is not just the new guy, but the new boyfriend of her best friend Gretchen. With her home life deteriorating and friendships strained, Rowan begins to crack beneath the pressure of it all. Even the world seems to reflect her downward spiral as frightening weather patterns begin to occur and grow in intensity. When waking life becomes more peculiar than her dreams, Rowan quickly learns nothing happens without reason and that the old bedtime stories her father shared with her years before were not to delight her imagination, but to leave with her the knowledge of a world that is hers to inherit.
