Three shallow graves are unearthed in the woods of Bemidji, Minnesota, each bearing the body of a young girl. The victims, wrapped in blankets and covered with plastic sheets, appear to have been well cared for. Their deaths were the result of barbiturate poisoning—each girl went to sleep and simply never woke up.

Unable to identify the bodies, the local police turn to the BAU team. Profiler David Rossi learns that the girls disappeared ten years ago from different parts of Georgia. Further investigation reveals that the perpetrators have been involved in a cycle of kidnapping and murder for close to twenty years—and the cycle is about to start again....
