About This Book

Young women in the town of Momi were ostracized for being incapable of conceiving children, and as such, Mariam was cast out from the community when it was discovered she was barren. Then on the night of the Amawus, the darkest night with the highest of tides, she was lured by the devil out to sea, where she could not fulfill her purpose, thus she remained a captive with the devils. History repeats itself over a century later as five girls are drawn past the forbidden islands on the latest night of the Amawus. Though this time the girls survive, they return to Momi only to discover they have been impregnated with the seed of the devil, their nightmare and dreams become a reality. Now Mariam's spirit returns to seek vengeance on the people whose ancestors once shunned her as she aids the Devil's rebirth to human form through one of the five, while the rest bear demonic cat like creatures. The voodoo and psychic powers of the local witch doctors are incomparable to those of Mariam, the cunning Devil and the misfits.
