It is 1953. Doctors, nurses and staff at the famous Cook County Hospital in Chicago are shocked to hear of the hanging death of Henry Mason, a gifted Intern with advanced degrees in biochemistry and biophysics. The suicide is discovered to be a cleverly-concealed murder, and several people become suspects. The medical community grows tense as more are murdered, and the police remain baffled. Henry Mason claimed to have discovered a formula for instant bonding of bone fracture fragments. The monetary value of the substance is recognized by health organizations throughout the world. Driven by visions of huge profits, both the Kremlin and a Mafia-affiliated union in Chicago seek to acquire. Dissatisfied with the progress of the murder investigation, Sam Davis, M.D., a pathology resident, becomes involved in the devious turn of events even as he himself becomes a target for murder.
