BURIED DEVELOPMENTS
Freelance insurance "fact-checker" Frank Cole agrees to look into a situation at the local bank in the town of Exile, Florida. Something is squirrelly with one of the safe-deposit boxes and, with the state preparing an audit, Frank agrees to look for anomalies. He finds a glaring one—the recent emptying of a box by a local man for his wife. It turns out the man's been dead for a year, and his wife has only recently, accidentally and suspiciously joined him.

Frank digs into Dorothea Freehoffer's recent fatal fall and discovers that the woman was not only unpopular and loathed, she was probably involved in Panhandle land corruption—and its darker dangers. Mix in double-dealing officials, shady speculators, missing persons, a map and murder, and Frank is going to need more than just his wits to stay in Exile...alive.
