Dragonslave

Avrea is a slave soldier.  She was only a child when she was stolen from her village - stolen because she had the potential to become an askenszar - a dragon rider.After eleven years, she's worked hard enough to be one that she's now the most valuable slave in her dragon-roost.  Riders like Avrea enforce the will of the Emperor by raining down fire from the sky.  Her only family now are her sister riders and commanding officers, and her greatest friend the thirty feet of flame-breathed death she rides, although he would never admit it.  Her childhood outside the Emperor's law is a distant memory - until one of those distant memories, now grown to adulthood, appears in her eyrie and begs for her help.
