Babet's thrilled when her dad, the guardian of the pits, gets to join her for her mother's three-hundredth, surprise birthday party in River City. The festivities are going strong when a thud hits the gate of her mother's privacy fence. When Prosper pulls the gate wide, a body slumps at his feet—the incubus who watches over the demon Xamian's pit. Xamian has escaped and come to River City to torment her father.
