Death on Black Dragon River

Beijing police detective Wang Anzhuang is dedicated to his work, and loyal to the Party. But a visit to his birthplace in the rural village of Nanping threatens to shatter ideals Wang has long held sacred. What was intended as a restful retreat in the country with his new wife, Rosina, turns out to be anything but when the Party secretary is brutally killed. Several paintings that had escaped ruin during the Cultural Revolution are also stolen from his home. Now Wang and Rosina must solve a mystery with links to China's tortured past—a past that has haunted this small community for decades.
