Death of an Immortal

In two hundred years, robots will produce everything, one thousand wealthy elites will own it all, and a hundred million people will depend on their charity. Advances in medicine will give the wealthy eternal youth; everyone else will die young. Ordinary people spend their time entertaining the wealthy by producing art and music. And engaging in blood sports where they fight to the death. Yet an endless stream of romance videos convinces them they are happy. The society is stable, even stagnant, until one of the wealthy immortals is brutally murdered. The four people—an immortal, two soldiers, and a gladiator—who investigate the murder discover their world works entirely differently than anyone ever suspected.
